6.5" 2-way Speaker with adjustable angle Tweeter
This is the matching set of 2-ways to compliment my front components. Installation was pretty much the same steps as used up front so for more details (and photos) visit that page.
This is with the door panels already removed so you can see the available space. The speaker sits higher so the window track is much closer now then in the front - be careful and watch the depth!
Here you can compare the factory piece of crap to the much better Infinity two-way. Since the rear doors are thinner (when compared to the front ones) the factory speakers come with these large metal grills which I discarded.
Just like in the front I had to make a custom mounting ring to hold the new 6 1/2" speaker in the old 6 3/4" hole. You can also see the angled tweeter this way the rear seat passengers get their highs directed to them. The speaker is sealed to the wood ring and stock bracket via a foam gasket so no bass can leak out and not rattles can be heard.
Now the door panel is back on. The tweeter just rests against the factory grill. This is a much tighter fit then in the front ! These speakers are powered by the head unit, as this provides plenty of power for rear fill. Due to their locations in the rear doors you can barely hear them while sitting up front (plus I have fader control over their volume), thus they do not drag the sound stage backwards. Overall a nice replacement for the cheap and crappy sounding stock speakers.
